McKinney: Art History

The Heard-Craig Center for the Arts offers a new series of programs in the Art History Brown Bag series focusing on the Baroque period.  The September 5 program will be an introduction to the Baroque period through the transitional work of Michelangelo and other noted artists.  The series continues on October 3, November 7, December 5, January 2, 2013, February 6, March 6, April 3, May 1, June 5, July 3 and August 7 .

Whether you're an art historian or just enjoy a beautiful painting, the Heard-Craig Art History series will heighten your appreciation of art and provide insight into the mind of the artist. The lectures are presented by Annie Royer who has been a studio and decorative painter/muralist for more than 20 years. Ms. Royer has a fine arts degree from Austin College; and has earned three Master's Degrees from Yale University in Religion and the Visual Arts, East Asian Studies and the history of art.

The free programs are in the Heard-Craig Hall Gallery at 306 N. Church - park behind the building and enter through the downstairs back doors. All of the programs include a slide presentation and are designed to fit within a lunch hour so that even the busiest person can attend. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch.
