Weatherford: Bankhead High Celebration and Cruisin' Highway 1

The Bankhead Highway Celebration honors and celebrates Weatherford’s heritage with events and performances held on Weatherford’s town square.  This year, the event will focus on Weatherford’s Bankhead Highway history, beginning on Friday September 23rd, 7 pm – 12 am, with a Speakeasy Stroll that leads attendees to participating restaurants and pubs.  Attendees are encouraged to wear 20s attire.  The eventl continues on Saturday the 24th, with events beginning at 11:00 am and concluding at midnight.  Saturday’s events include:

  • Cruisin’ Bankhead Highway “1”  (Tours in your own car down the Bankhead with 5, 15, 25 or 60-mile routes); 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Breakfast on the Bankhead (at participating restaurants); 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
  • Antique Auto Show on the Square (Bikes, Motorcycles, Trucks from 20’s & 30’s, 40’s); 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Show & Shine (Show off your cars); 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Stray Days, 1920’s market (Antiques, produce, collectibles, vendors, games, live music, arts & crafts);  10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • 1920’s Theatrical Bankhead Production  (Theatre Off the Square, 20’s Attire encouraged); 10:30 am. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Tallulah Bankhead Look-A-Like Contest; 3:00 p.m.
  • Live Music; 3:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Bankhead Speakeasy Bash - Vintage Car Museum (Dinner and Dancing in 20’s Costume); 8:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
