Who: Art-lovers of every age are welcome! Edom, TX: Plan to attend a free, family fun event: The Edom Festival of the Arts 2012 - a carefully juried art show held in a shady meadow in East Texas on Saturday, October 20 from 10-6 and Sunday, October 21 from 10-4. Located at the intersection of FM 314 and FM 279, half way between Canton and Tyler, Edom is a community with a history of support for art and music. The Edom Festival of the Arts has evolved over forty years of commitment by area resident artists to showcase fine art—from the region and beyond. The hamlet of Edom is known as the home of quality handmade art. The Festival grows and changes each year. This year’s show includes both returning favorites and new artists and performers. Enjoy live concerts under the trees by singer/ songwriters, dancers, and instrumentalists. Booths display the artists’ pottery, jewelry, painting, pine needle art, weaving, metal work, furniture, art glass, and other amazing forms of artistic expression. All the artists are present and eager to talk about their work, some will demonstrate their process. There’s also a Kid’s Art area where children can create their own paintings. There’s no charge for any of these activities. Don’t forget the food! There are booths with your favorite fair food items as well as meals available in local restaurants. The festival grounds are just behind the row of artist’s shops in Edom’s 1-block downtown. Visit www.EdomFestivaloftheArts.com for the music schedule, artist profiles, and driving directions.
