Denton: Blagg-Huey Library at Texas Women's University

This library holds significant collections about Women Airforce Service Pilots of World War II, better known as the WASP. Between 1942 and 1944, at the height of World War II, more than a thousand women left homes and jobs for the opportunity of a lifetime--to become the first in history to fly for the U.S. military. They volunteered as civilian pilots in an experimental Army Air Corp program to see if women could serve as pilots and relieve men for overseas duty.

Watch the following videos to learn more about World War II airfields in Texas and the WASP pilots. These videos were produced for inclusion in the World War II on the Texas Home Front mobile tour found in our Texas Time Travel mobile app.  Learn more about the tour and the app on the World War II theme page at the following link: http://texastimetravel.com/travel-themes/main-world-war-ii
