SPECIAL EVENT!!!! A full morning of activities for kids to learn how to fish.

There is little more exciting than to watch your child pull in their first catch. Whether this is their first time fishing or they already know how to fish…if they are between the ages of 5 and 13 they are invited to the Annual Cooper Lake State Park Kid’s Fishing Derby. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and first hook in the water will be at 9:30 a.m. We will have a limited amount of loaner tackle available for use as well as worms to put on the hook. The fishing will end at 11:30 a.m. and prizes will be awarded as soon as scale cards are turned in and tallied. There will be some activities before, during, and after the fishing event. The whole family can enjoy learning to cast, learning to tie fishing knots, the back yard bass game and a tour of the Operation Game Thief trailer presented by TPWD Law Enforcement. Following the fishing event enjoy a hot dog courtesy of the Sulphur Springs Kiwanis Club. There will be a $5 entry fee at the gate for each person over 13 years of age.
